This is an easy level crochet pattern. It is suitable for those who have practiced the basics of crochet and are ready for their next project. The techniques involved are US single crochet (UK double crochet), bobble stitch, and working in rows.

The finished wall hanging is approximately 11.5 inches wide by 15.5 inches long (29 cm wide by 39.5 cm long), excluding the fringe.

Both of my girls love dancing, it’s one of their favourite activities. It doesn’t have to be anything formal or fancy, some of my most favourite memories are the three of us just cranking up the radio and having an impromptu disco. At some point they will hit that self-conscious age and won’t be so willing to dance with me but until then I will join in with every dance request and make the most to savour every moment.

In my last post, I spoke of being over-ambitious and starting three crochet projects at once. Well, this is the second of those projects that I am finally able to share with you.

I had wanted to make something decorative for my girls’ bedrooms for a while and I was already partway through designing the ballerina doll so wanted to continue the dance theme. A wall hanging came to mind as an interesting, but not too long-to-make, project. I was already in love with the bobble stitch from working on the Cuddle Robot Baby Blanket and wanted to design with it again. For the colour scheme, I made each wall hanging with colours to compliment the two ballerina dolls.

It took a few attempts to get the width right and create a style of lettering that was both pretty and easy to read. The girls were very pleased with the end result, which made all the frustrating frogging at the beginning of the project worth it.

It’s a low-sew project; the only sewing involved is at the end when you attach the finished crochet piece to the wooden rod. The crochet piece itself is made all in one go.

The girls insisted on having the wall hangings displayed in their bedroom as soon as possible and have not let me touch them since, hence the real life photos of where the wall hangings are displayed. We don’t have Pinterest worthy bedrooms, but they are filled with love and my girls were just so excited to have something made by mummy on their walls. Which makes my heart smile and gives me purpose to carry on.
