Hi and welcome to My Crochet Wish, a world of fun and fantastic patterns, tutorials and resources designed to make your free time a bit more special and help you create adorable projects for you and your loved ones.

My name is Joanne and I am the designer behind My Crochet Wish. Like most of you I wear many different hats throughout the week: wife, mother, daughter, employee, and saving the best for last, crocheter. Just another busy woman trying to do all the things.

During my time here on earth I’ve learnt two important things about myself:

1. I need crochet in my life to stay sane

2. I love making things for my girls

I have crocheted for all of my adult life, but it wasn’t until I had my two girls that I seriously started designing my own patterns. Very soon, our home was stuffed full with crocheted goodies and so I started gifting to our friends and wider family. I love seeing the joy on loved ones faces when they receive the gift of handmade. I just had to share that joy with others, and so I started My Crochet Wish.

Why the name My Crochet Wish, I hear you ask? Because I adore crochet and everything about it! I wish I could spend all day crocheting, I wish I could buy lots of yarn, I wish I could spend all day designing patterns and… well you get the idea!

And what do I mean by ‘crochet patterns to create joy’? Well, that is the underlying philosophy behind everything that happens at My Crochet Wish. The idea is simple: crocheting pretty items to give as gifts makes me and the gift-receivers happy. Therefore, if I share my patterns, then even more crocheters and gift-receivers will be happy; and happiness makes the world a better place!

Tour of the site

I want to spread the joy of crochet, which is why I created this website to share my patterns with you. Most of my designs start as gifts for my children, wider family and friends so you are only going to find family-friendly, cute, wholesome patterns. My designs are mainly wall hangings and wreaths, with a large side-sprinkling of amigurumi. Just go here to access all the available patterns or check out the Patterns menu at the top of this page. More patterns are added throughout the year.

For my pattern-collecting friends out there, my premium patterns are available to purchase on Etsy or Ravelry, as well as ad-free printer-friendly versions of my free blog patterns, because sometimes it’s just nice having a pretty, clean copy of the pattern for your collection.

For my fellow lefties out there, don’t you worry, I’ve got you covered. All my patterns come with left-handed and right-handed instructions and photos where needed. No more having to work out how to mirror the pattern because I know how hard it can be trying to picture it in your head when only right-handed instructions and photos are provided.

For my free-spirits out there, use this website as inspiration and put your own twist on an idea. Don’t like the colours? Then change them. Want something in a larger size? Then size up the yarn and hook. I love the freedom and creativity that crochet offers.

For my small crochet-business solopreneurs out there, you are welcome to sell your finished item made using my patterns, however please tell people that the pattern was designed by Joanne Marris of My Crochet Wish, and please use your own photos for your product listing or advertising.

All my free patterns have been written using US crochet terms. I’ve put together a crochet translation guide for those who are used to UK crochet terms. All purchased PDF’s have US and UK instructions so you can pick the instructions that are right for you.

If you’d like to see what you get inside one of my premium crochet patterns why not sign up for my newsletter? Not only will I let you know when new patterns are available, I’ll also send you my Small Heart Wall Hanging Crochet Pattern as a thank you present.

If you are on the newer side to crochet check out my tutorials and guides. There are some handy resources to develop your crochet skills and make your creations look even more amazing.
